Look I know it is hard to live on the street, I’ve done it. I know the fear of having nothing to go home to. I know the fear of losing it all. I have met so many people who even have less than I do. Yeah I am suffering without a job and being Trans. But at least I have a home and tonight we will sleep warm. Sadly this is not the case for others.
Here is Australia we had a rich man beg for 3 million dollars to sue for the right to hate others. Then got it with the help of the Australian Christian Lobby. Just think what 3 million dollars could do for the homeless in my state alone. Lets talk honestly 40% of LGBT+ youth who come out end up homeless. We as a community have the ability with a donation of just $5-10 dollars to help someone in a meaningful way. Doing more good than 3 million dollars to a rich man. We can show just how much love our community has. Please $5-10 is not much. Cup of coffee in the morning vs helping someone have a place to sleep.
Well, as I said in my podcast and on this blog I had an idea for a bonding event with my boys. That was to make a Lan party in the house just us three. Plans are plans and sometimes steps taken are rather hard. So I dug out my copies of Quake. Quake 1 was and still is an amazing step forward. But in saying that no I am not going to learn to code the game to work right. Quake 2 Oh yeah! we got it working but there is a problem. I suck at it now….
Where once I had an edge but 17 years later I am getting owned by my son, LOL. life really is fun, we were test and tweaking the setting to work with the Mouse Keyboard style that both of us enjoy. But my system is so fast that I could turn around and create a tornado. Gabriel watched it happen a few times as we were setting it up. Now we need to setup the laptop and we are almost there. Now Niamh has seen us playing and has changed her mind and wants to join in so not the idea has changed to Gaming with the kids. We are still in the testing phase and we were also able to test the recording software. Next we will see if Twitch can work with it.
I hope to have this all setup and ready for a full run on Sunday the 7th of July. We also hope to be live on Twitch as well that day. So if you want to see some fun and here us being goofs tune in for more information this week. *Warning* plans could also have to change, the life of being a parent <3.
Right now there is not a lot on there. But in time this is going to change. Please do enjoy what is on there. Videos of my Son’s at a Jiu-Jitsu championship. Then there is a video about gender affirming surgery for Transwomen. Now I will answer anything but not Trolls. I will delete those as fast as I see them. No one needs that kind of hate in their lives.
Well, in this change of my online presence I started looking at some fun things to do with my children. One of these being Gaming with the Boys. Knowing right now my Ex is trying to figure out after reading this that they can find a new spin on Bad parenting. Well bring it on! Because we work our asses off in Jiu-Jitsu, School and having a life.
So what we are going to do now is go back in time to 1998 (ish) and look at some of the games from that era. The first game we are going to play and record is Quake 2. Sadly streaming might not be possible due to being in Australia. A simple yet fun game to go head to head on and have a good time. No building walls or any other silly tricks. Just back to the start of kicking ass and taking names. My skills have dropped over the years and Gabriel has never played this game so we might be a fair battle. But What he does not know is I am going to use the laptop and put this old game on it and bring in a 3rd player his little brother. A little brother who has no fear and no idea how to play this game. This battle is going to be a blast!
I tried to setup Quake 1 but after an hour or so trying to fix the resolution I gave up. So in about a week we will post a video on Twitch or Youtube. Really have not thought that out . But in the end this is all just for fun. Break the dull-drums of life for some laughter and smiles. It is winter time after all. I hope that if we can make it live you will join us. If we can only do a video have a watch it is going to be crazy.
One of the hardest things as a parent is to keep your children involved in life and sports. Now days most children are content with playing their tablets or computers. It used to be TV and Console games the era of the kids riding bakes is almost done.
I was really worried about this as a parent . So about three years ago I leaped at a chance to enroll my children in Jiu-Jitsu. At the time I was not really sure about this choice and I was doing it a bit reserved. Now three years later a lot has changed. Now I have two sons who so fully enjoy the sport and a daughter who is doing to be able to protect herself. My boys are to the point that both of them are going into statewide competitions. My oldest is spending about 10 hours a week in training.
I was looking at other parents and what they do with their children. For an example on this past Saturday all three of my children were up and moving at 8, then on the mats at 9 am having a lesson. Which was followed by 2.5 hours on the open mats. Open mats are a chance to roll with others and put all your lessons to work to gauge where you need to learn more. Then on top of that one of the most amazing things I have seen is the adults who are also on the mats having a roll like to assist youth and give them tips. The Jiu-Jitsu community is really unique in sports because of this.
Then we have a break on Sundays where we just enjoy our family time because Monday and Thursdays are very long days for my old who does three hours each day. Then Friday is another hour. Then it is back to Saturday..
But what I see around where I live kids sleeping in until 10 or later. But my children are becoming involved in a sport that they love and which will serve them as adults. What more could we really want as parents. Healthy children and one that enjoy life. So yeah Saturdays are the greatest days.
Well, it is so much fun sitting behind a microphone once again. Something that is not been lost over the many years spent away from it. Though it is taking time to get back into the swing of things. Though sadly I am not able to use my everyday voice. I am still going back to the old radio voice as I am in a comfort zone with it. I spent hours today trying to find a sweet spot where I could use my everyday voice. But it never sounded right, so until I can feel strong as well as confident in using my normal voice. People are just going to have to put up with it.
Did not think I could be so busy trying to get this all up and running. Putting the first chapter of my up and coming second book on Patreon to writing out ideas for the shows. Even planing out the blog posts has wiped me out of energy. I need to get into writing more and finishing off the editing of the book. Choices also have a couple of chapters I need to rewrite as I am not happy about them.
I have learned to find new respect for authors and what effort they go through to port out a piece of fiction. Story lines, Character paths, and even an ending that makes sense. Just when you think you have it all figured out and even after you write it. You might not like it and then you edit and edit until you do. That is where I am with a couple of books hoping that I might find a solution for something I really don’t like in a book.
hmm back to work again, eek….lol
BTW there are a long list of podcasts up on my site
